Trail Talk: Issue 15: Trail Maintenance
The days are getting longer. Spring is on the way and with that comes the gradual change of seasons and the beginning of a new trail season for the Panhandle Pathway. After the winter weather and remaining snow is gone from the trail, work then begins in getting the trail ready for the new season and trail visitors.
If 2024 is the year you go out and start helping in the community, you might want to consider volunteering with trail maintenance. Various levels of help are always welcomed from basic litter clean up to helping with low hanging trees limbs and brush clearing using hand tools or power equipment. All volunteers are welcome. All skill levels are invited. Anyone interested in helping should reach out via our website:
www.panhandlepathway.org/contact-us/ To express your interest in person, plan to attend our board meeting on Thursday, March 28th at 6:30 p.m. ET at the town hall, 104 E. N. Street, Royal Center, IN.
What do people say about the Panhandle Pathway? Here is a statement from an area resident: “The Panhandle Pathway is a wonderful asset to our community! The beautiful scenery gives me a much-needed respite from the demands of my day. I can put on my AirPods and go without worrying about dodging cars. I'm thankful for the Panhandle Pathway volunteers who keep the trail in tip-top shape and free of debris. My favorite pathway activity is taking walks with my daughter, Hannah, when she is here visiting from Indianapolis,” said Katie DeGroot
